Last Minute Summer Holiday Plans

CORNWALL – RELAX

Head to Cornwall and see the dolphins this summer!

Who needs Florida? For an unforgettable getaway, our dolphin and whale watching experience provides the perfect opportunity to witness the wealth of marine wildlife that the south coast has to offer. Bottlenose and common dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, pilot whales, seals and a multitude of sea birds all frequent the area and spotting any of them makes for a fascinating boat trip from Falmouth. Afterwards you can also explore the popular National Maritime Museum for free.

A really enjoyable couple of hours spent off the Falmouth coastline. The RIB boat made for a different experience, and we saw seabirds and porpoises but our guide had so many interesting facts also, so would thoroughly recommend this trip.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE – GET ACTIVE

White water tubing in Northamptonshire

For an alternative holiday plan for a family of four that makes the most of the summer sun, try white water tubing. After training, everyone gets a tubing ring to head down a thrilling white water course specially designed with whirlpools and other obstacles. It’s a breathtaking experience which can be enjoyed at your own pace, with friendly instructors helping all the way. Don’t forget your towels!

When the adrenaline has stopped pumping, nearby Coton Manor Gardens provides the perfect summer retreat. Boasting lush gardens, exotic birds and a charming little tea room, there’s plenty to see and do.

It’s never easy to find a family activity that everyone really enjoys (age 15 and 12 children!) – but this is brilliant – highly recommended. Agree with the other reviews, when you look at the course it looks a bit tame, but once you get going it’s good fun and the instructor was fantastic which really made it entertaining and especially enjoyable. If you watch the video’s after it is very clear that most people were slightly anxious in places – I have to admit to being a little scared at one point! – just the right balance. Having watched a bit of the rafting was especially pleased I chose tubing – having the opportunity to do everything at your own pace was better for us.

NORTH EAST – TAKE CONTROL

Diggerland is a great spot to entertain the kids in over the school holidays!

For kids large and small, who could resist the chance to drive construction machinery? There are Diggerland parks in Durham and Wakefield (as well as Devon and Kent). From dumper trucks to diggers, learn how these mammoth machines work and experience how easy they are to drive after a bit of instruction. The park has a wealth of rides and experience tells us that Diggerland brings out the kid in everyone. Read how RLD’s IT manager Ed got on when he took his son.

A great day out with rides for kids of all ages, loved that this is an interactive day and kids are able to take control of the diggers! Digger land is big enough for a day out and small enough for the kids to run free. The staff were all friendly and were really helpful – would recommend a visit.

ANYWHERE – STAY COOL!

How some of our own staff kept cool last summer – remember the ice bucket challenge?

There’s no reason that this summer can’t be the best yet – whatever the destination, make sure a last minute experience is a still a first-rate one. Where will you go?
